Stop Stigma Around Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders

The Huntsman Mental Health Foundation has partnered with the Ad Council on a $65 million multi year initiative to address the mental health crisis in the U.S and to combat stigma. This effort is uniting brands, marketers, media companies, and nonprofits to launch public awareness and grassroots campaigns that will reach multiple audiences across the United States.

Your generous donations help support a nationwide movement to eliminate mental health and substance use disorder stigma. One in five US adults experiences mental illness each year, yet many do not seek the help they need because of stigma. Stigma robs people of their joy in life and, worst case results in ultimate harm. Help us end mental health stigma and establish well-being for all.

At the Huntsman Mental Health Foundation, we are on a mission to end the stigma surrounding mental health and substance use disorders. Your generous donations are a vital part of this nationwide movement to change the narrative around mental health.

The Stigma Problem

Nearly half of US adults experience struggles with mental health and do not seek the help they need, and stigma is often the reason why. Stigma robs people of their joy in life. It isolates them, makes them feel ashamed, and can prevent them from seeking the treatment and support they deserve. In the worst cases, stigma can lead to ultimate harm.

Stop Stigma Together

Stop Stigma Together is a movement to shift beliefs, attitudes, and behavior around the stigma of mental illness by employing a comprehensive translational approach extending across basic science, public policy, business, and the law to build an initiative that will eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and substance use disorders on a national scale.

Patterned after other successful changes to American culture such as anti-tobacco, recycling, breastfeeding, and seat belt usage campaigns, this effort brings together a broad coalition of public and private sector partners working together with thought leaders and activists.
